Bottle feeding

Once a baby passes through the initial stages of breastfeeding, bottle-feeding plays an important part in feeding the baby. Ideally breastfeeding is the most recommended and suitable method of feeding the baby. Normally baby doesn’t need any bottle for it’s feeding.  It is also hazardous for the baby as it leads to diarrhea and gastroenteritis. Even though it has some hazards it has its own advantages. When mothers initially try to bottle feed their babies, they will face with lot of difficulties. But once this stage is surpassed, bottle-feeding has lot of conveniences.

If mothers commute frequently with their babies, when they couldn’t find suitable place for breast-feeding, then bottle- feeding helps them a lot. It is also a boon for mothers who are inconvenient to breastfeed their babies, as bottle-feeding keep babies away from starving. Anyone can bottle feed the babies, as it doesn’t require only mother to do it. One can introduce bottle- feeding to babies by following the below steps. A mother who bottle-feeds her baby due to certain compulsions should take the some precautions for healthy and hygienic results. One can take the help of their husband in bottle- feeding.

Mothers should implement the following steps in order to be successful at bottle-feeding. During the initial stages, one can take the help of others as babies refuse to take milk fed thru bottle. This is because they are aware of the availability of mother’s breasts. Staying out of sight of the baby may also help. Mother should make the baby used to express milk at first rather than formula feed. Baby gets used to expressed milk easily rather than get accustomed to bottle-feeding along with formula feed. Even if the baby gets used to bottle-feeding, one should not do away with breast-feeding right away. Mother should continue both bottle-feeding and breast-feeding simultaneously for some time.

One should sterilize the nipple of the bottle before using it for bottle-feeding. They should be sterilized and washed with precaution. One should boil the teats and bottles for 10 minutes in order to sterilize them. Mother can try feeding the baby with a cup if the baby refuses to be fed by bottles. They can tilt the cup towards the baby and let the baby get used to it at her own pace. So bottle-feeding the babies have lot of advantages to working women and mothers who commute quite frequently.
